Dubbed 'Lolita from Lolita's point of view', this impressive study of teen angst tells the story of 18-year-old Meg (Agnes Bruckner) who spends her time juggling school and looking after her disturbed younger sister. Her father has run off and her mother is overworked and hasn't the time to care. But Meg finds release in poetry, something that her sincere English teacher (David Strathairn) encourages her in. But his enthusiasm soon morphs into something less ethical, with tragic results. Bleak but surprisingly uplifting.
