Bob Dylan plays Jack Fate, a singer now in jail, who is helped to escape by a rock promoter and his partner (John Goodman and Jessica Lange) because they need him to bolster their 'benefit' concert. Dylan spoofs himself in this wayward comedy but he also performs some of his classic songs and there are masses of cameos by stars including Jeff Bridges, Ed Harris, Val Kilmer, Bruce Dern, Mickey Rourke and others. Interesting and puzzling, if not great drama.
