Cynically packaged as a Vinnie Jones vehicle - he appears briefly as a nasty pimp - this hard-hitting drama is actually worth a look. Beautifully edited and shot in golden hues at disconcerting angles, it's set on one sweaty, balmy night at a dingy, bug-infested hotel in LA, where a collection of deadbeats, hookers and petty criminals converge. The film focuses on a couple of ex-cons (Vinny Argiro and the impressive real-life mobster Donnie [Saks] Montemarano), as they find their dreams of escaping to a new life in Las Vegas crumbling before them when a whore is murdered. Although it's pretty sleazy, nasty, claustrophobic and disturbing it's still worth a look. James Caan pops up in an uncredited cameo as a prison warden.
