Barbara Stanwyck stars as Victoria Barkley in a 1967 feature-length episode spun off from her much-loved, long-running Sixties Western TV series. In this one there's lots of fiery action as she and her family set out to battle a deadly forest conflagration that's encroaching on their California spread. Her brave boys, Heath, Jarrod and Nick (Lee Majors, Richard Long and Peter Breck), have a solution but it's a desperate one, taking nitroglycerene into the blaze. Stanwyck is great as the show's matriarch and, as her late hubby's illegitimate son, Lee Majors scores strongly in his first work after six months of acting training. The Big Valley ran from 1965 to 1969.
