Now in its 21st year, The LLGFF presents a strong and eclectic programme of feature films, shorts, artists' film and video and experimental work, as well as a whole host of discussions and special events.
To tie in with the festival Sky Movies 1 will be showing a host of movies looking at the representation of sexuality in cinema.
The unusual combination of transvestism and the Anglo-Irish troubles worked wonders for director Neil Jordan in The Crying Game, so he tried it again in Breakfast On Pluto. Cillian Murphy transforms himself into Patrick, a cross-dressing foster child of the 70s who prefers the name 'Kitten'.
The ground-breaking film Philadelphia saw Tom Hanks win his first Oscar as a gay lawyer who takes his firm to court when he is sacked after his colleagues discover he has Aids.
Val Kilmer is on top form as a gay PI about whom very little is camp? except his ringtone in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
Then of course there's 2005's massive hit Brokeback Mountain, the epic romantic drama starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal as a ranch hand and a rodeo cowboy who begin a sexual relationship while herding sheep one summer.
And to round off the collection 'Desperate Housewife' Felicity Huffman is phenomenal as a male-to-female transsexual who must escort the teenage son she's just met from New York to LA in Transamerica.
