The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Fierce yet beautiful adventure, setting up the lengthy quest dreamt up by JRR Tolkien. Frodo and friends embark on their journey that will ultimately last three award winning blockbusters.
Brilliant finale to an epic tale of adventure and true friendship. Truly creative, it takes you to the depths of your own imagination and makes you fight in your own mind for Frodo and the burden he carries with the ring. Terrific closure to the film and not at all disheartening after such a long wait. Characters are so imaginative throughout and delivered superbly but nothing less was expected with such a top cast of actors. A credit to the author for such an adventure.

Great film. Although it may annoy people who have read the book because some scenes have been completely rewritten.

I found the first LOTR boring in parts because of too much dialogue and the scenes were too long. But there are good performances by Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom and Ian McKellen. But I still think there could have been some much needed action... No way does this first instalment match LOTR 2 and 3.

I found LOTR extremely over-rated. As far as cinematography is concerned, it out-does any other film. But when it comes to nearly everything else, the film lacks any depth, in both character and gripping story line. References to the book are irrelavent. Forget it is based on a critically acclaimed book, it is a film about a dwarf trying to hide a ring from a bunch evil people. With the exception of Ian Mckellen, the acting was suprisingly bland.

I have to admit, I didn't pay attention to any of the LOTR hype at first. In fact, I only saw this film a week before LOTR III was out! I only wish I had listened sooner. This is a fantastic film! An epic adventure which will leave you craving more! Be warned - if you see this film, You wont sleep properly until you've seen the other two! It's an amazing trilogy; I'd reccomend this film to anyone!

A must-see for any adventure-loving movie-goer. A great film. The acting from all is pure joy, the scenery is stunning. Having only recently re-read the books there are some things that have been dropped but this has not affected the flow of the story. The relationship between the actors off screen has found its way onto the screen and brings a depth to the fellowship that is needed, the actors care about each other and this comes through in every scene.

As an LOTR fan since 1974 (4 re-reads so far, about every 5 years) I feel a little bit qualified to comment on Peter Jackson's effort. Result? 10/10, brilliant. Of course some parts are shortened and some missed (thank goodness bombadil is out, the most tedious and annoying character in all JRR's works) but the essence is there and in some style too. Bravo Peter Jackson!

Good film!

Very, very, very, very, very, very, brilliant!

Peter Jackson has left out certain parts of the book, like the four hobbits meeting Tom Bombadill - no doubt this is to cut down on the length. This three-hour film is still well worth watching. It shows that Peter Jackson and the rest of the film crew have put their heart and soul into this project and, as a result, a superb, adventurous film has been made. The locations exactly match what you would imagine they would be like in the book, and the creature are the same. Wonderful!
