A middle-aged teacher develops a bitter rivalry with a younger colleague over his school's Teacher of the Year award in this comedy drama starring David Paymer and Ryan Reynolds.

Groan. 'The Wonder Years' has a lot to answer for. But that's where the comparison sadly ends for this lame, sacharrine-engulfed lightweight comedy which lurches into a deadly serious final 20 minutes.

It's all set in a squeaky clean High School, where a new cool history teacher (Ryan Reynolds) and the square science master (David Paymer) compete (in the eyes of the children) for the coveted Teacher of the Year Award.

And all of this 'hilarity' is narrated by said square teacher's son, Dylan (Andrew Robb).

Over-sentimental tosh.

I started watchin this film just coz nothing else was on and then suddenly I started understanding it and it was a really nice film. The twist was really good.

I only decided to watch this film because I needed something on the tele while I was tidying, but as I was cleaning I suddenly found myself glued to it! This is one of those films that you just watch and cant look away. I especially liked the twist about Mr. D!
