Jessica Simpson

Born: July 10 1980
Where: Abilene, Texas, USA

The singer and reality TV star made her big screen debut as Daisy Duke in the 2005 big screen version of The Dukes of Hazzard.

Starring alongside Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville, Simpson reportedly got through 23 pairs of "Daisy Duke" shorts in her role as the feisty barmaid.

The daughter of a psychologist and baptist minister, she attended college in Richardson, Texas, and recorded a Christian album when she was just 14.

She shared bills with gospel acts such as Kirk Franklin and God's Property and toured as support for 90 Degrees, which featured her future husband Nick Lachey.

In 2000, aged 17 she released her mainstream debut album Sweet Kisses, which spawned her breakthrough hit I Wanna Love You Forever.

"Natural beauty is really happiness with who you are. If you like who you are on the inside, that'll come through on the outside."

Her follow-up album Irresistible was a big hit and she branched out to televison work with appearances on That 70s Show and The Twilight Zone.

However, it was her appearance with husband Lachey (she claims she stayed a virgin until her wedding night) in the MTV reality series The Newlyweds that attracted a new fanbase.

She is rumoured to have turned down a part in Coyote Ugly in 2000 but accepted the part of Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard.

However, rumours of an affair between her and co-star Knoxville led to her husband issuing a statement saying their marriage was solid. The separated in November 2005.

Upcoming film projects include the romantic comedy Room Service.
