Based on real life Canadian diplomat and Chief War Crimes Prosecutor for the International Crime Tribunal Louise Arbour (Wendy Crewson) ,this examines the causes and effects of the wars and genocide in former Yugoslavia. It's a slow and painstaking treatment that avoids going for the emotional jugular the way that most Hollywood films would - and is all the better for that. However, it also glosses over the inadequacies of the UN's response in those wars and, unfortunately, allows William Hurt to try out a British accent. Not something he should do again.
