A gaggle of American, British and Australian backpackers find themselves stranded in a remote area of Brazil when their bus crashes.
Rather than wait ten hours for a replacement, the group hole themselves up at a beach bar and have the night of their (soon to be curtailed) lives.
Next morning, they awake to discover they have been drugged and robbed by the delightful locals. With no money, passports and very little clothing, the group put themselves at the mercy of friendly local Kiko (Agles Steib) who offers them refuge at his uncle’s cabin.
It’s an arduous trek through the jungle to their sanctuary and before long, the "uncle" appears and the real fun begins for the unsuspecting trippers.
This is a cheap rip-off of Hostel and should play well with those who enjoy plenty of gore and torture scenes with a sun-kissed background. Think Saw-on-Sea.
Story, script and characters are not well developed but there’s plenty of eye candy on offer with the twenty-something cast spending the majority of the movie in swimwear.
The film tries to deliver a half-baked message regarding the exploitation of Third World countries but this is no more than an after-thought.
Having a Brazilian takes on a whole new meaning.
