This comedy centred on the well-worn subject of American tourists abroad is pleasant, well-scripted entertainment, with all manner of madcap goings-on. Ian McShane is the streetwise Cockney tour guide with a particularly glad eye for Suzanne Pleshette's bright young department store buyer. Naturally there are missing persons, split families, plenty of romance and, even in the late Sixties, the inevitable confused Japanese. Quite nice to see picture-postcard glimpses of what various European cities looked like nearly 30 years ago. Patricia Routledge is one of the members of the tour party, and look out for card-sharping Ben Gazzara and John Cassavetes, Vittorio De Sica as a shoemaker and Anita Ekberg as a nightclub artiste - all in for fleeting guest-star spots.
