British director Anthony Minghella's first Hollywood film (he's just been nominated for an Oscar and a Best Director BAFTA for his latest, The English Patient) followed hard on his success with his debut film Truly Madly Deeply. Matt Dillon provides star power as a hard-up divorcé who wants to renovate and run a ramshackle bowling alley with his mates. But he has a problem - he's burdened with having to pay monthly alimony to his pretty ex-wife (Annabella Sciorra). Then he hits on a bright idea - find her a new husband to take her off his hands. Of course, this being a Hollywood 'feelgood' movie in the same vein as Pretty Woman and Ghost, you just known that whatever hoops writers Vicki Polon and Amy Schor put these characters through, they're pretty much made for each other. Romantics will fall for it, though - hook, line and sinker. Grab a box of chocolates in one hand and a box of tissues in the other and sit back and wallow...
