The struggle against personal tragedy is pretty common fodder for TV movie makers and this offering follows that path. It's the true story of American Football player Dennis Byrd, who was paralysed from the neck down after a freak accident on the pitch. Byrd, despite being told he would never be able to even move, was determined to walk again and this film shows his battle against the odds. Peter Berg is effective as Byrd and a supporting cast that includes Carrie Snodgress and Zakes Mokae add depth to the story. Sensitive direction by Michael Dinner puts this 'worthy' drama a little above the average. Still, it's no barrel of laughs.
