A crazy car chase is the point of this madcap thriller, a loose - and vastly inferior - variation on the them of the 1971 cult thriller. Viggo Mortensen, who played Aragorn in the Lord of the Rings films, takes the Barry Newman role of driver Jimmy Kowalski. However, there's no desperate bet involved here: instead, Jimmy is dashing across country to be with his wife, who's about to give birth. But the cops are on his tail and they're imagining all sorts of reasons for his flight. A pointless, sappy film that wastes Mortensen's talents. Jason Priestley plays 'The Voice' on the radio.
