A grimly exciting, brutal, Quentin Tarantino-style action crime thriller, with a larding of vicious black comedy. It provides Thomas Jane with a flashy star role as an ex-LA drug dealer trying to start a new life in Texas, where, of course, his former cronies (led by Aaron Eckhart) track him down one Thursday. This fast-moving movie is extremely confidently written and stylishly directed by Skip Woods, and fortunately it's crisply cut, so you don't get an eyeful of the violence. Jane gives an eager, credible turn, but, even so, he's outclassed - admittedly in showier roles - by Eckhart and James LeGros (as psychotic 'homicide specialist' Billy Hill).
