'What's a silver brumby? ' some may ask. It's a horse and the subject of this appealing Australian film based on a story written by a single mother for her teenage daughter (Caroline Goodall and Amiel Daemion frame the tale as mother and daughter). Set in the Fifties, it tells of a mountain horseman (Oscar-winner Russell Crowe) determined to capture and tame a beautiful silver stallion. What happens at the end is the stuff of which legends are made. Victoria's rugged plains and mountain ranges are beautifully photographed, while there are enthralling scenes of horses running wild. A must for the kids, and adult animal lovers will enjoy it too.
