As TV producer Julian Sands says 'The line between art and garbage can be thin. Sometimes even the artist cannot see it.' Director Wim Wenders steps well over the wrong side of the line here. Jeremy Davies, Milla Jovovich, Mel Gibson(! ), Jimmy Smits, Gloria Stuart, Sands and Amanda Plummer make like an improv theatre company, going way over the top in a drama that may once have held some potential, about the mentally challenged denizens of a run-down hotel, who become involved in a murder hunt run by a detective (Gibson) straight out of Twin Peaks. So pretentious it would try the patience of a saint.
