This short, low budget digital video film is the product of three creative forces: director Danny Boyle (The Beach, Trainspotting), director of photography Anthony Dod Mantle (Festen) and writer Jim Cartwright (Little Voice). It's a poetic, character-driven tale of two social outcasts from Manchester - Strayman (Christopher Ecclestone) and Strumpet (Jenna Gee) - who fall in love, form a band and are then cruelly exploited by a London music impresario. Ecclestone's performance as an eccentric street-poet is on a par with David Thewlis's portrayal of a similar character in Mike Leigh's Naked, and the jokes at the expense of the hollow London music world are well observed.
