If this sex comedy were a book, you could sketch out the plot at the start of chapter two and not go far wrong. Christopher Eccleston and Dervla Kirwan, after a happy two years of marriage based on mutual lust, hit trouble when they decide to go for a baby. No luck. Lots of arguments though. Then - the catalyst. Dervla's one-time pen pal (Yves Attal) arrives from France. And Eccleston's old flame (Julie Graham) lures him back to her salon to have his grey tinted. And still no baby. Well... nothing happens that you wouldn't expect. Director Michael Winterbottom has no tricks up his sleeve here and, after a storm of swearing and a blizzard of bonking, things end up much as you'd predict. The director has to rely on his actors to save the day in a film where some tiresome patches tend to merge into one, and they perform strenuously well and look well-toned in the nude. The dialogue, though, isn't sufficiently bright to deflect you from wondering how long it's going to be before the inevitable conclusion.
