This famous musical is dull and overblown compared with the stage original, even though the music and lyrics, by Frederick Loewe and Alan Jay Lerner, the photography of Richard Kline and John Truscott's costume designs are all very pleasing indeed. Of the performances, that of Richard Harris - who also does his own singing - stands out with his forthright and sympathetic King Arthur. But Vanessa Redgrave, perhaps not beautiful enough from the start, is not a notable success as Guenevere, and there are no singing voices to compare with that of Julie Andrews in the Broadway original. The score includes If Ever I Would Leave You, C'est Moi and Camelot.
