Pre-empting The Sopranos by a good four years, Lynda La Plante again returns to Widows territory with this hard-nosed drama about family life surrounding a Sicilian Mafia don (Dennis Farina). A fantastic cast (Vanessa Redgrave, Natassja Kinski, Jennifer Tilly) play the women involved in his life and director Peter Bogdanovich pops up in a cameo role. Powerful, explosive and hugely enjoyable.
