Pearl Harbor

Appallingly good-looking pilots Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett fight for the love of a nurse (and also have a pot at the Japanese Imperial Navy). This no-expense spared blockbuster scores a direct hit as far as the aerial action scenes are concerned. The 40-minute section when the American Navy is caught unawares is an utterly compelling theatre of war. Don't even think that it's a useful history lesson or half-decent love story - just sit back and watch the US Pacific Fleet sink to the bottom.
