Damaged Care

Medical drama based on a true story, starring Laura Dern and James LeGros. Horrified by the way that hospital patients' lives are being put at risk in order to cut costs, a crusading doctor blows the whistle on the US health care system.

Laura Dern is terrific in this true story of a doctor, Linda Peeno, who starts working for 'managed care' organisations, denying or allowing treatment to patients on behalf of their health insurers. Horrified at the life-or-death decisions her employers make to save money, she eventually blows the whistle on their policies. James LeGros plays Linda's unfaithful husband, while Adam Arkin and Diane Ladd also feature in this throught-provoking drama.
