Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze has a cameo in this film, which is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the hit original from the Eighties - it simply revisits the winning formula, and as such, makes an enjoyable companion piece. It's set in Cuba in the Fifties as the country teeters on the edge of revolution, and tells of an American teenager (Britain's Romola Garai) who falls for a Cuban hotel waiter (sexy Mexican Diego Luna). Both love to dance, and, as is obligatory in these sorts of movies, they enter a competition (Swayze plays the dance instructor). There's not enough dancing, and the politics get in the way of the romance, but it's a sweet, light, time-passer with two charismatic rising stars.
