Black Hawk Down
This is a Jerry Bruckheimer production, which means a load of action but very little plot or characterisation - all fur coat and no knickers. But it's also a Ridley Scott film, which means the action is brilliantly realised.
One of the greatest war films, the action sequences are just incredible but there is also something more. Seeing the film I had to disagree with the Sky reviewer, who calls it American Propaganda. Having read the book which is completly non fictional as it is accounts from the soldiers who fought there, I realised these soldiers actually did these heroic things and they were not just created by Hollywood. This is not propaganda. It is a tribute to men who serve and die for their country.

From speaking to former soldiers this is apparently the most realistic film ever. It's brilliantly done using, in some scenes, real army rangers, pilots and Black Hawks. The film showed Mogadishu well and the crew got it right, with former Delta operators on hand for technical advice. An impressive movie which makes you respect soldiers who fight for freedom. Best war film in years, and a true tribute to the fallen heroes.
