"I am an Athiest. I know the films are really Christian and everything but them doesn’t really affect me.

The son the writer Randal Keynes, his family were well known in Lebanon as writers.

He attended London's Anna Scher Theatre School and the all-boys City of London School.

In 2001, he made his screen debut in the Jonathan Meades documentary Victoria Died in 1901 and Is Still Alive Today.

Two years later he would play the young Enzo Ferrari in the 2003 drama Enzo Ferrari (Prince Caspian villain Sergio Castellitto played the elder Ferrari).

In the summer of 2006, Keynes and his grandfather, mother, and sister were forced to flee from Beirut, Lebanon, where the family were holidaying when the 2006 Lebanon War began.
