Munich
At the Munich Olympics of 1972, the Palestinian terrorist group Black September murdered 11 Israeli athletes. Steven Spielberg's grimly riveting powder-keg of a political thriller is a dramatisation of the events that followed, with Eric Bana as the head of a death squad sent by Mossad (Israel's CIA) to assassinate those responsible for the atrocities.
I really think Spielberg's lost his touch here. Where he once conjured up suspense with ease, too much of this is predictable. I also wasn't happy with the amount of screentime devoted to the gratuitous assassination of the Dutch honeytrap. The scene where Eric Bana has flashbacks to the Munich massacre while having sex with his wife was appallingly misjudged. All in all, a major disappointment.
