MIB2 Runs Mendes Off Road
Perdition can't manage No.1 at the US box officeMen In Black II zapped its rivals at the US box office for a second consecutive weekend, while Sam Mendes' gritty Road To Perdition opened at No.2.
The sci-fi comedy sequel sold about £16m worth of tickets and took its 12-day total ov er £85m.
Road To Perdition, a crime drama starring Tom Hanks as a vengeful killer on the run in 1930s Illinois, grossed £14.2m in its first three days.
Three other films made impressive debuts: Matthew McConaughey's apocalyptic thriller, Reign Of Fire, at three; the horror picture Halloween: Resurrection at four; and family adventure The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course at six.
The top five was rounded off by the Adam Sandler comedy Mr Deeds, which fell three places and made £7m in its third weekend.
The combined sales for the top 12 films were about even with last weekend, up about 20% from last year.
