Perdition Topples The Mouse

Recounts confirm Stuart Little is not the top US film this week

Stuart Little is a mighty optimistic mouse indeed - he was sure his second instalment had fought off competition from Sam Mendes' Road To Perdition to triumph at the US box office.

But second counts from studio estimates hav

e turned the competition around and Tom Hanks's starring vehicle, Perdition has beaten it's was to the top, taking £9.9 million.

Men In Black II, which lagged only slightly behind Stuart Little 2, took £9.5m.

K-19: The Widowmaker, a true story adaptation starring Harrison Ford as the commander of an imperilled Russian nuclear submarine, slotted into No.4.

Adam Sandler's comedy Mr Deeds rounded out the top five and was followed closely by Reign Of Fire and Halloween: Resurrection.

Bringing up the bottom of the American box office top 10 were Lilo & Stitch, and Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course with £3.2m and £3m respectively.
