Prudent Old Hugh
Millionaire Brit knows how to watch his doshBritish actor Hugh Grant, who is worth some £50m, has withdrawn the offer of a charitable fund because it's too expensive.
The star of About A Boy recently announced plans to create a grant scheme to allow boys from less well-off homes to attend his alma mater, Latymer Upper School.
The bursary was to be named after Grant's mother, Fynvola, who died of cancer last year.
But after the costing was finalised, Grant started to waver on his generous offer.
He said: "I thought it would be a great way of helping the school return to its roots as a school for poor boys.
"So I went back to school and met my own teacher, Chris Hammond.
"But when he told me the amount of money it would actually involve, I couldn't believe it.

The disappointed teacher commented: "Hugh does seem to be backtracking, but I'm still hoping that we can get him on board.
"I suggested a donation of £500,000 which would have provided for seven pupils for seven years on half fee scholarships.
"Of course, if he wants to donate less, then that's fine."
