Eminem Praised For Film
Would the real film actor please stand upRap-star Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers, has been showered with praise for his role in a new film.
Critics have even named him as a possible contender for an Oscar after viewing screenings of the movie 8 Mile.
Co-star Brittany Murphy (Clueless; Girl, Interrupted; Don't Say A Word) and director Curtis Hanson (The Hand That Rocks The Cradle; LA Confidential; Wonder Boys) also applauded his performance.
Murphy said: "Listen to one of his CDs, he plays a number of characters. If a man can do all that, then he can do it ten times better than most people when the camera's there."
Hanson told The Sun: "Eminem knew nothing about acting but he's the definition of the term quick learner."
In the film, due for a January 17 UK release, Eminem plays a rapper named Jimmy Smith Jr who's not unlike himself - the character is loosely based on his own early life.
