It's official - the most hotly anticipated film of the year is not Red Dragon or Harry Potter 2, it's not even the 20th Bond movie - it's the latest Lord Of The Rings film.

ers, the latest instalment in the big-screen adaptation of JRR Tolkien's sci-fi books.

The movie, starring Elijah Wood, Viggo Mortensen, Sir Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Liv Tyler and Christopher Lee, is out simultaneously in the UK and US on December 18.

Well over half of Sky Movies readers (54 per cent) said that if they could only see one film this year, it would be The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers.

Nearly a fifth (19 per cent) can't live without Die Another Day, while a close-run 17 per cent are hanging on for Harry Potter as he searches for the Chamber of Secrets.

Just 10 per cent were hungry for Hannibal prequel Red Dragon, starring Anthony Hopkins as the monstrous yet strangely appealing cannibal killer.
