The highlight on Sky Movies Indie this August is Z Channel: A Magnificent Obsession .

This documentary tells the bittersweet tale of Los Angeles pay-TV movie channel Z Channel, whose programming chief, Jerry Harvey, cut a tragic figure - a talented but tortured TV exec who championed art house and cult movies in the 70s and 80s.

Directors such as Quentin Tarantino and Alexander Payne credit Z Channel with being a formative influence on their early development as filmmakers.
