A lavish version of the classic horror tale - easily comparable to the recent $30million production by Kenneth Branagh - with an excellent all-star cast. This is the full two-part American TV version (it was later edited to just two hours for cinema release in the UK). The acting is uniformly good, but Michael Sarrazin makes a lasting impression as the sad creature brought to life by the fanatical Dr Frankenstein (persuasively played by Leonard Whiting).
