Alfre Woodard

The versatile actress was Oscar nominated for her performance as a housekeeper opposite Mary Steenbergen in Cross Creek.
Other notable appearances include Passion Fish, K-Pax and The Core.
A drama graduate from Boston University, Woodard had a stint on Broadway after graduation, but soon after she moved to LA.
Remember My Name in 1978 was her first break, and Woodard went on to appear regularly in many TV shows including St Elsewhere and LA Law.
One of her most acclaimed TV roles was as Winnie Mandela in the biopic Mandela.
In 1983 she landed the Oscar nomination and then she teamed up with Danny Glover in the ensemble drama Grand Canyon in 1991.
The following year she earned her first credit as a producer with The Colours of Love.
In 1995 she featured in a major role in How T0 Make An American Quilt, and the following year she was cast as a scientist in Star Trek: First Contact.
Alfre featured in the film Love & Basketball and she also co-starred with Ving Rhames in the TV movie Holiday Heart.
More recently she acted as part of the ensemble cast in What's Cooking? And then she starred opposite Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey in K-Pax.
She starred in the sci-fi thriller The Core and switched styles to play the chief of staff in The Singing Detective.
Recent work includes Radio, the story of a mentally retarded black man played by Cuba Gooding Jr.
