The journeyman classic "bad guy" made his feature debut in the British army entertainment yarn Privates On Parade.
Career highlights have included Julien Temple's Absolute Beginners and the action thriller Passenger 57.
As a youngster obsessed with German and Japanese films he had a debilitating brush with spina bifida.
He regularly bluffed his way into the film lots of Shepperton Studios before landing a place at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts with with practically no acting experience.
After his debut, his roles were confined to British productions such as The Keep, Oxford Blues and For Queen and Country.
He made his first foray into America as the terrorist Charles Rane battling security expert Wesley Snipes in the thriller Passenger 57.
He then switched between TV and film work before landing roles in the high profile movies Highlander: Endgame and Dungeons and Dragons.
Recent work includes the corrupt cop in Steal and the thriller One Point 0.
