Stanley Graham, a New Zealand backwoods farmer, ran amok with his guns, terrorised the community, killed seven men (four of them policemen) and caused the biggest manhunt in the country's history. This is not fiction. What is known as the Graham Murders is fact. The film reconstructs the bizarre events, from a script by Andrew Brown who was inspired by a book entitled Manhunt by H A Willis, an Australian documentary director who made a programme about the Graham Murders in 1974. Brown comes from New Zealand and knows the remote area of the South Island where the events took place.
