Rick Moranis
Born: 18 April 1954
Where: Toronto, Canada
Rick began his career as a part-time radio engineer in Toronto while still in high school, and supplied station's deejays with funny one-liners, leading to his own radio show which he hosted and wrote.
A veteran of the Toronto cabaret circuit and a member of the Canadian branch of the famed Second City improvisational comedy troupe, he demonstrated his versatility and talent for mimicry on the Canadian comedy show, SCTV.
With SCTV cohort Dave Thomas, Rick co-directed, co-wrote and co-starred in his 1983 film debut, Strange Brew.
He gained recognition for his role as Sigourney Weaver's wimpy neighbour in Ghostbusters, and became well known after appearing in the 1986 musical remake of Little Shop of Horrors and the family hit, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.
Rick's two biggest hits spawned their inevitable sequels: Ghostbusters II and Honey, I Blew Up the Kid. He also turned in goofy character performances in several films with Steve Martin: Parenthood, My Blue Heaven, and L.A. Story.
He brought to life the cartoon character Barney Rubble in The Flintstones. After his next two comedies Little Giants and Big Bully, Rick took some time out before lending his voice to the animated film Brother Bear.
