Theresa Russell
Born: 20 March 1957
Where: San Diego, California, USA
Theresa has become something of a sex symbol for the art-house crowd, with her memorable performances, particularly in films by her husband, director Nicolas Roeg.
She was discovered by a photographer at the age of twelve, and after modelling for some years, she eventually dropped out of high school to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.
Theresa's film debut was Elia Kazan's The Last Tycoon in 1976, in which she played Robert Mitchum's daughter, and in 1978 she starred opposite Dustin Hoffman in Straight Time.
Theresa's other credits include Aria, Cold Heaven and Insignificance.
Her attempts to break into more commercial projects have failed, but she continues to work in TV films, and low-budget art-house movies.
