Diana Scarwid
Born: 27th August 1955
Where: Savannah, Georgia, USA
With a solid academic background and an appealing and natural look Diana Scarwid has had the potential to do great things but she's never had that big break.
Her training has come from a host of institutions: The University of Georgia Theater Workshop; the National Shakespeare Conservatory in Woodstock, New York; the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and the Film Actors Workshop in the Burbank Studios in California.
Diana's film acting debut came in 1978 with Pretty Baby playing Frieda, one of the ladies of the brothel in which Brooke Shields is raised, and in 1980 her career became very promising with an Oscar nomination for Best Actress for her performance as Louise in Inside Moves.
In 1981 she played Christina Crawford in Mommie Dearest, but did not achieve the recognition many felt she deserved.
Her career has remained pretty stagnant since then, with supporting or minor roles in such movies as Silkwood; The Neon Bibles; The Cure; JFK: Reckless Youth and Psycho III.
In 1995 Diana shone as Bess Truman opposite Gary Sinise in the TV movie Truman, a performance which earned her an Emmy Nomination, and five years later she played opposite the stars again as Michelle Pfeiffer's best friend in the thriller What Lies Beneath.
