With Peter Sellers dead and David Niven dying, writer-director Blake Edwards struggled gamely on with a revamped old Inspector Clouseau script. This is a sad affair, where it's hard to find any laughs or even traces of humour. Ted Wass has the unenviable task of trying to raise the comic temperature as a Clouseau-type investigative buffoon, Clifton Sleigh, a New York cop sent to find both Clouseau and the Pink Panther diamond. Niven's motor-neurone disease speech-impaired voice is dubbed by Rich Little. For Pink Panther completists only.
