Patricia Arquette

Born: 8th April 1968
Where: Chicago, Illinois

The actress first attracted attention as Alabama Whitman in Tony Scott's Tarantino-scripted True Romance.

Other highlights have included The Indian Runner, Ed Wood, Stigmata and the part of porn star Linda Lovelace Deeper than Deep.

At 15, she ran away from home to live with her actress sister Rosanna and got her start in showbiz at 18 in 1986's Pretty Smart.

A year later, she gained attention for her starring role in A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.

Bringing much of the same vulnerability to the big screen, Patricia was cast as the girlfriend of Viggo Mortensen in Sean Penn's 1991 directorial debut The Indian Runner.

Later that year, she held her own up against such big stars as Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper in True Romance.

In 1994, she starred in Leonard "Mr Spock" Nimoy's comedy Holy Matrimony and Tim Burton's horror spoof Ed Wood.

Subsequent appearances included John Boorman's Beyond Rangoon, the Ben Stiller comedy Flirting With Disaster and Christopher Hampton's The Secret Agent.

In 1997, she starred in David Lynch's Lost Highway and the horror yarn Nightwatch with Ewan McGregor.

Roles followed in The Hi-Lo Country, Roland Joffe's Goodbye Lover and the thrillers Stigmata and Bringing Out The Dead (with ex-husband Nicolas Cage).

Switching to comedy, she starred with Adam Sandler in Little Nicky and Human Nature with Tim Robbins.

Recently, she starred in the Disney adaptation of the children's modern classic Holes with Sigourney Weaver.
