This loose remake of the 1977 French film of the same title has some nice ideas of its own, even if central character Burt Reynolds spends rather too much screen time discussing his obsession about women with psychiatrist Julie Andrews. It's just as well the stars give subtle and appealing performances in these roles, leaving the histrionics to co-star Kim Basinger as a voracious harpy who eats men for breakfast and spits out the pieces - then shoots her husband and jumps bail!
