Stockard Channing and Harvey Fierstein, two American theatrical heavyweights who have never quite made the same impact in films, make a formidable acting duo in this story of a man who has died of AIDS and the poignant confrontation between his wife and his male lover. Tactful underplaying, especially by Channing, ensures that you'll see both sides and sympathise with both characters when an understanding is reached. Pretty intense at times, but so well-written and acted that it wins you over.
