A superior TV movie, elevated by the knockout central performance of Juliette Lewis (later to be Oscar-nominated for Cape Fear), as a troubled teen on trial for her life. Her later real-life boyfriend Brad Pitt (they were to co-star again in the cinema film Kalifornia) plays a street hustler who is instrumental in her downfall. Her lawyer, battling to save her from the gas chamber, is played with gutsy relish by Michael Tucker, who must be feeling typecast as a lawyer after his long run as a regular in L. A. Law.
