Whoopi Goldberg does an eerily good imitation of Eddie Murphy in this fast, furious and foul-mouthed crime thriller. The wisecracks rattle out like the baddies' machine-guns as undercover cop Rita Rizzoli (Goldberg) cleans up LA's mean streets. The plot's muddled and Whoopi's love stuff with Sam Elliott daft, but, as a vehicle for Goldberg's comic talents, it remains mostly entertaining. Brad Dourif is super as a stary-eyed psycho.
