This amiable, if none too subtle, comedy bowls along at an increasingly frenetic rate as hero Cheech Marin finds himself dumped in Mexico after the LA police crack down on illegal immigrants. Predictably, Marin devises all manner of outlandish attempts to return to his home country, and, on the way, teaches some bemused Chinese and Indians how to be street-smart in preparation for their arrival in the land of their dreams. It all gets a bit sentimental at the end and there is a silly running gag involving a stupid cousin, but there are some good-hearted laughs along the way.
