Take a friendless cop with some kind of a death wish, on the trail of a serial killer and unable to attract women. 'Maybe it's something about my personality,' he surmises. Then take an egotistical, sawn-off movie star who has no idea about real life, but wants to make a film 'without a goddamn Roman numeral in it.' Cast James Woods and Michael J Fox in the parts, shake well around the aforementioned serial killer and you have the mixture for a fairly surefire action comedy. Nick Lang (Fox) wants real police experience to help him with a new role, and John Moss (Woods) is the man he chooses to provide it. Stunts and chases abound in the ensuing developments of a film that might have been better but remains enjoyable for all that. Fox has a good time (including a running gag about his looking like Nick Lang, only shorter); Woods is as OTT in comedy as he is in drama and just as entertaining.
