Pruitt Taylor Vince landed his first role in Jim Jarmusch's Down by Law in 1986, but did not survive the final cut.
His real entry to film was with a small role in Alan Parker's Angel Heart, and Parker subsequently cast him in Mississippi Burning.
It was in 1989 that Vince was cast in his TV-movie debut I Know My First Name Is Steven, and three years later he enjoyed his first screen collaboration with Oliver Stone in JFK.
It was Vince's role as Paul Newman's friend in Nobody's Fool in 1994 that proved to be his breakthrough, and his first big screen lead was in Heavy, directed by James Mangold.
Some memorable appearances on various X-Files episodes followed, and he followed up this success with roles in Nurse Betty, with Renee Zellweger; Trapped with Charlize Theron, and most recently Monster - for which Theron won the Best Actress Academy Award.
