Lena Olin
Born: March 22 1956
Where: Stockholm, Sweden
Olin first came to the attention of international audiences for her portrayal of Sabina in Paul Kaufman's The Unbearable Lightness of Being.
The daughter of a theatrical family (her father Stig starred in Ingmar Bergman's masterpiece The Seventh Seal), she studied at Sweden's Royal Dramatic Theatre.
While she was there, she caught the attention of Bergman, who went on to direct her in King Lear, After The Rehearsal and Miss Julie.
She made her American film debut in the 1988 film The Unbearable Lightness of Being opposite Daniel Day-Lewis.
From there she went on to star opposite Ron Silver and Anjelica Huston in the critically-acclaimed Enemies, A Love Story.
She received the New York Film Critics Award for Best Actress as well as an Academy Award nomination.
Subsequent appearances include Havana, Romeo is Bleeding, Night Falls on Manhattan and A Polish Wedding.
Olin starred as Dr Annabel Leek in the superhero spoof Mystery Men and featured alongside Johnny Depp in the chiller The Ninth Gate.
She again appeared with Depp in Chocolat and also starred in the weak fantasy vehicle Queen of the Damned.
In 2003, she starred as Harrison Ford's love interest in the lacklustre Hollywood Homicide and the Spanish devil worshipping chiller Darkness.
